Sickness comes on horseback
but departs on foot.
~Dutch Proverb~

I do not want the peace that passeth understanding.
I want the understanding which bringeth peace.
~Helen Keller~

INNER PEACE COMMENTARY: Inner peace is a lovely place to visit, yet very few of us get
to live there. Unless we live in a monastery, it seems that this chaotic world is always pulling us
off center. However, if we are to become “instruments of peace,” we need to find peace within
ourselves. Therefore, Inner Peace is both an aspiration and a destination. And yet, healing
cannot take place unless we learn to connect to our Inner Peace.

Inner Peace, like Light, is always there inside of us, yet connecting to it is often difficult in the
hectic world. We can connect to our Inner Peace by using a combo-cup of practices: One way is
to use the Mindfulness Meditation Practice, substituting the word “Peace,” for “thinking.” Just
the word “peace,” seems to bring a sense of calmness to our souls. When you find yourself being
caught up in chaos, anger, or despair, another way to become grounded in the midst of conflict is
to use the Detachment Practice by taking a breath, and stepping out of the situation
momentarily. By using the Practice of Detachment one will often find a peaceful resolution to
conflict. Most importantly, one can find peace by spending some quiet time in Nature. The
Universe has set it up that when we are resting in the arms of the earth, we move into a “Zen-
Like” state of being. And lastly, if we just make ourselves a priority by spending a little time
each day investing our hearts in something we love to do, rather it be working a crossword
puzzle, a hobby, meditation walking, or reading a book, this investment often enables us to find
peace at the end of a chaotic day.

However, there will be days when you attempt to find peace inside yourself and it seems like an
illusive butterfly, just out of reach. That is when you it would benefit you to realize that the
greatest asset to finding your Inner Peace is to trust that the world is in capable hands. Most of
the times when we are embroiled negative emotions, that is when we just have to let go and
Trust. Trust equals Peace.

REST AND REVIEW
Now, without judgment review your week. This week there were times I was able connect deeply
with my Inner Peace. Now breathe in how it felt. Then breathe out the wish for everyone to share
in feeling at peace.  Now, look at your short-falls. This week I there were times I was pulled
completely off center and found myself caught up in the chaos. Breathe in this drama and
breathe out the wish:  May all those who feel ill at ease be spared from this feeling.  Feel free to
use your own words in this practice.

A Prayer For Peace

in quietness and
trust shall be our strength.
